Human brain is encoded so, in order to be able to translate the avalanche of vibrations of our senses organs to frequencies of neurons, which change bio-chemical reactions in the brain and launch a various processes that, in particular, awaken the mind and emotions.Neurons have the ability to gather and transmit electrochemical signals.
The recording of the brains activity is called an electroencephalogram (EEG). Brain waves are the voltage patterns generated by the brain. The EEG pattern is popularly referred to as "brain waves". Brain waves appear as irregular, somewhat repetitive waveforms, and are a mixture of many frequencies from less than 1 to more than 40 Hertz. Different brain wave patterns have been found to be associated with different states of awareness. Several frequency ranges have been identified and given names by neurologists:
Generally, specific brain wave frequency ranges can be associated with mood or thought patterns. Alpha frequencies are from 8 to 14 Hertz and are commonly associated with relaxed, meditative states. Most people are in an alpha state during the short time immediately before they fall asleep. Alpha waves are strongest during that twilight state when we're half asleep and half awake.
Alpha (8 Hz - 14 Hz) is a state of light relaxation. Typified by a calm, focused mind. Alpha is sometimes called the "super learning state" because the brain seems to be more receptive and open to new information. Most people who meditate, do so in alpha.
